I have a NAM with 4.0 software running with a MICS 4.1 KSU. When I boot the NAM, OS2 comes up but it doesnt connect to the phone system. I checked watchdog in OS2 and it said there was a DS-30 error, no connection. I swapped out the fiber cable but still got the same probem. Could the BIC be bad. If so, does anyone know where to get one?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think the DS-30 error is normal if you have an App Mod II. These can be either fiber or copper. If the NAM doesn't see a copper port card it will generate this error.

If you're sure the NAM is R4.0 I'd guess the fiber port card is bad. I may have a spare, but I'll need to check stock on Monday. Does the digital display on the NAM read 00?

That's one of the drags of Nortel.....they kept everything secret squirrel for a very long time. It is hard to know for sure what exactly is causing a 'DS-30' error. It could be the fibre receiver on the NAM, it could be the DS-30 port on the 2 or 6 port expansion card in the Norstar, it could be a corrupt DS-30 driver....? There are a number of Nortel resellers...Second To None comes to mind as an authorized reseller/refurbisher. Just make sure the port in the Norstar (module 3, for example) is not disabled, and try another port on the card before you go too far.
