Our NAM is not always promptly notifying when messages are received.

It can take up to 3 days before the message notification displays on the phone.

I'd appreciate any ideas on what might be going on. Our vendor has no clue.

We have version 4.0 software on the NAM. and 6.1 on the MICS.

Thanks,
Lance Robaldo

ok, since the vendor told me it was Mics 6.1 and NAM 4.0, I assumed it was so.
How can I verify?
Perhaps it is 4.1 already?

"press 9"
will say 4.0.
or 4.1.

if your vendor did not know about software release issue "as in compatibility"i would get a new vendor...quickly...hurry..before we are all gone

OK, I have NVM 4.0.04A on the NAM.
How do I verify what version of software is on the MICS.

Change vendors? I'd love to, but I'm stuck with them until our 2 year warranty runs out. (1 1/2 more years...)

They seem to be able to handle the hardware ok, but I've had to do most of the software changes (setting up night rings, etc...) myself. They can't ever figure it out.

Thanks,
Lance.

You need to require that your vendor sub out the work to someone qualified in Nortel if they are not.

in ksu ther is a software catridge and in that ther is a pcmia card on that is a white tag with software release...if you are using a pri t1 you should be on 6.1 wi 6.10 and bkrike is correct demand a qualified tech/programmer from vendor ir not supplied call nortel and complain

I can't remove the card without taking the system down. I can't read the label without removing the card.

Is there any other way to check the MICS software version?

We have 2 t1's, however they aren't going directly into the MICS. They're going into channel banks and being broken up into 24 analog lines before going into the MICS.

So that doesn't help me figure out the version.

get a pair of glasses and a step stool and a flash lite...also when you go into maint portion of programming first option is system version sp________

Summer, if you are familiar with programming, you'll find the software version under Maintenance>System Version. Then post what you see there and somebody here will translate the SP version for you.

your vendor isn't blowing smoke when he says there isn't a fix. this problem has been dogging me since the old startalk days....

Itas tip 289 says in part,
The vast majority of incidents have been resolved by:
- rebooting the voicemail unit
- deleting and recreating the mailbox
- deleting and recreating a new mailbox
- deleting all mailboxes and reprogramming the voicemail

the problem exists on a few mailboxes for a few weeks and then it disappears. as much as it pi$$es you off I'd say this is normal.... I didn't say it was right, just that nothing can be done about it at this time.....

Delayed Messaging Questionnaire
In order to diagnose the problem of delayed messages it is necessary to obtain information about the scenario. The
answers to the following questions will assist Nortel in the analysis.
1. Is the delayed message saved in the mail? If no, further analysis is not possible
If yes, what is the mailbox ____________________________
2. What is the envelope information about this message? ____________________________
3. What time did the caller leave the message? ____________________________
4. Was the message from an internal or external caller? ____________________________
5. What time did the mailbox owner find the message? ____________________________
6. Was this message received with other messages? _____ How many? ____________________________
7. What was the time(s) that the mailbox was accessed between when the message was left and when it was
discovered?
______________________________________________________________________________________
8. Describe the circumstances that caused the delayed message to be discovered. Did ‘message for you’
prompt appear?
______________________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________________
9. Is it possible the delayed message arrived at the proper time but the ‘message for you’ prompt did not
appear on the set and later another message was received that did turn on the ‘message for you’ prompt and
the user went into the mailbox and discovered the delayed message?
______________________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________________
10. Was Feature 9*9 invoked on the set when the delayed message was discovered? _____________________

Roldan: The info in the "Maintenance>System Version" is as follows:

SP: 30CQE06 NAT

Can you or anyone else translate this into what software version the MICS is running?

Westcoaster: The only question that I can really answer is #9. Yes, a later message was sent that triggered the "msg for you" to display on the phone.

This is an ongoing problem with various dates/times. It has not happened to me, however several of our employees have complained to me that it "sometimes" happens to them. But nothing consistent that I can repeat.

Your vendor needs to upgrade the software on your voicemail to the latest 4.1 This should be a "free" upgrade (no keycodes required) and shouldn't take more than an hour.
As had been said before MICS 6.1 is not compatable with NAM 4.04A

Thanks All!

I know have the knowledge to take to my vendor and force them to fix it right.
