n00b Needing Help with IPLDK-20 Phone System

hi, i have a IPLDK-20 Phone System in my office and im sick of calling and waiting for the phone engineers to turn up. so i have decided to take matters into my own hands and learn how to connect my box to my laptop and carry out simple fixes using the LDK PC admin software. the prob is i dont know where to start.

how could i connect to my IPLDK-20 box? the ethernet plug (labelled LAN) is empty on my box. would i need some other cable and will there be any settings? e.g. ports

any pointers, advice or links would be appriciated.
