THe voip gateway connects through a LS/DS line card. The caller calls a number, the voip gateway recognizes the digits (Phone number -> IP), and send it to the ip address specified (Other gateway). THe remote office auto answers that line and the customer calling in hits a taget line number to get to the other extension.

you can use routing and DISA (or not) to call extension to extension as long as each system has a different DN range. You will need to configure target lines for each extension and configure routing to support your situation.
Note that you do not have to use the Norstar VOIP gateway, other products such as multitech or qtelnet will work in similar ways.

The routing would be the same as if you were setting a MICS up with DID lines (copper or T1).
I've got a question regarding this. I have 2 gateways in my office on the same network but using 2 diferent KSU's, trying to simulate a typical installation. It is working from KSU 1 to KSU 2, however, when the call is connected from KSU 1 to KSU 2 I get dial tone and I have to enter the extension number I want to call. Is this how it will work, I was hoping it would work like a DID, where I would just dial an extension number from KSU 1 and reach the extension on KSU 2 through routing and target lines. So my question is....is this just how it works?
