Well.. I think the error message pretty much sums it up.
how can I find out what phones are using it? and how many ports I have allocated to it? I think I have 4 ports for the VM and 2 for our ACD, I cant imagine my office using all 4 ports.. also.. is there some way
to "reset" the users logged into the VM? or anything that
can help me troubleshoot this issue a bit better?
Thanks in advance..

Nick

I have a Norstar Modular ICS system. with VM 4.0 I believe.

oh. also 1 other question. when trying to use the Norstar
Voice Mail Manaber 4.0 software. the IP and password window popup. I put in my password. and hit connect. and the NVM software just sits there in my taskbar and nothing ever shows up.. is there any fix to this? feature 983 works great everytime.. I know it's the correct IP. and it does not sit at the "trying to communicate" window either.
thanks again!

you may want to have a service tech check out your equipment, if thats not an option you can reset the system and the vms at the same time to allow it to re-sync the ports. Jeter@LasVegas.com

Yeah.. I've heard them coming out of sync before.
the ICS is the devide with the hard drive and monitor port etc right? I've reset that recently for an upgrade.
by resetting the "system" and vms at the same time. how would I go about that? is there a way to check how many VM
ports are working?
thanks for your help..

Nick

A simple way however not really the correct way would be to unplug both devices at the same time and reinstall at the same time.

Shaad,
the way you can check to see how many voice channels are installed on your voice mail system is as follows:
from a 73xx phone:
Feature 9 1 5
Password 2 2 2 3 7 7 2 (ACCESS2)
Screen should now shows ACCESS Server
Press NEXT until the display shows
Channel Status
Press SHOW
the display should now show Chan Status Menu
Press ALL (this will let you look at the voice channels that you have installed on your system.
the display will now show a series of letters followed by a series of "*". such as ". . c r * * * * *"
a dot "." means that the channel lis idle
an "r" means that the channel is ringing (either making or receiving a call)
a "c" means the channel is connected and on an active call
an "a" means that the channel is connected to the KSU but not activated for Voice Mail
an "x" means that a channel was detected but there is a problem on it.
a "*" means that no channel was detected.
this is an active display and you can see the changes of status as they occur but if configuration changes are made to the number of voice channels then you must start over at the top to see the new changes.

Thanks.. this will help much.
it shows
6 Idle spots.
to "a" spots
and the rest are "*"
as far as the "a"'s there is no way to ebable them right?
I need to purchase a key to use them?
right no everything looks pretty idle..
I'm not sure how all 6 channel's could have been full..
Thanks again
Nick

I believe that you have two channels set for ACD and six channels set for Voice Mail, the "book" says that an a means that the channel is not available for Voicemail calls. You can check the min./max. channels that the ACD has available by logging onto the ACCESS2 server as above then press admin key the display should now read a. Prt queue mgr.
press next untill you display c. voice & fax
press show, you will see access server
press next and see NrstrVM
Press show and the voice port will display
press show and voice ports will display
press min and it will display the minimum channels for acd
press max and it will display the maximum channels for acd
press rls to drop the session

as far as i can tell the min number is the number of ports that acd has allocated to it at all times, the max is how many acd can use at a maximum

I am puttin a bit of conjecture on meaning cause the books only tell you to do things and not why you are doing things.

Well it sounds like you got a few problems, #1 get rid of NVM Busy, Hit F983, 1020000, if this is your password, hit 44 and view this will tell you how many ports you have, I believe one of your last posts tells you how to allocate the ports so they are divided the way you want, questions does the VM answer and then callers transfer to ACD, or does the ACD answer specific lines? None of the ACD Agents should have the phone lines appearing or Ringing on the Phones if you have ACD.
