Mystery of the missing AD User Account

Good Morning,

I have a Windows 2003 Standard pre\sp1 Domain Controller that has been functioning flawlessly for about 2 years now. In the last 2 weeks i have had 1 user account just up and disappear from AD. Its happened twice, about a week apart, the same user account and i for the life of me cant figure out how it is happening. I am 99% sure its not being manually deleted as i am the only administrator of the box and dont think i am deleting the account during a drunken stupor blackout. I have googled the hell out of it and see i am not the only person to have this happen to but i dont see any good explanations or remedies to this issue. Any of you ppl have and experience with this issue i would love to hear your explanation and resolution.

Do you have other domain controllers?

Why have you not applied SP1?

no other domain controllers. havent had the time to apply SP1 and i have been monitoring what other ppl have experienced after applying it and i didnt what to deal with a downed server just yet. Its on my list of stuff to get done.

I have loaded SP1 on many servers without a single problem. I'd load that and see if it resolved your issue.

Well i installed sp1 the last time we spoke and the user account hasnt disappeared since. not sure what caused the problem but all has been good for the past month. thanks for pushing me to get sp1 on, i had no problems installing it. guess i will chalk this issue up to "just one of those MS things". thanks for the help
