Mysterious White Space on Report

The Report sections are:
RH - always prints
PH - doesn't print for page 1
Da - fields/supp. if blank
Db - prints formula/supp. if blank
RFa- prints formula/supp. if blank
RFb- white space only
RFc- suppressed conditionally
RFd- always prints
PF - always prints

There is no visible space between Db and RFa in the Design Mode. When the report is previewed, there is 3/4 inch of
unexplained white space between Db and RFa which I don't want to appear. The test report prints on a single page.

The formula in Db contains "If" statements that may or may not print various lines. Similarly for the formula in RFa.
Both Db and RFa "Can Grow."

Since both Db and RFa are suppressed if blank, and are drawn tightly together, I don't know why any white space would appear between them. Any ideas?

TIA.

To help you determine where the white space is coming from, try adding a line at the bottom of Db and a dashed line at the top of RFa. If the white space is appearing between both lines, try setting the line in Db to "Extend to Bottom of Section". If the lines then touch, you will know that its your detail section. If its possible that your formulas are inserting empty spaces, try using the Trim function.

Let me know how it goes!

Footer positions are measured from the bottom of the page while other sections are positioned from the top of the page. If the two don't meet, there will be white space between them. You can't set the footers to start printing right after the last detail.

why are you using only report footers...and no groups in your report.

how are you contolling your report details...just through a "Sort"? Describe your report showing a small sample output of what is in each section....there is probably a more efficient way to write this Jim Broadbent

Perhaps the fields in Da or the formula in Db is resulting in spaces or carriage returns (since Db might suppress, the culprit may be in Da)?

For instance neither Spaces nor Carriage Returns are blank, and if the field/formula contains anything, another culprit being extended ASCII, that can cause this.

Replace your Da field and Db formula with just the text "Hello".

Does it still have additional space? If not, you know that either the field or formula contain something unexpected, set each back to the original state until you see the unexpected behavior again.
