Hey all, had our largest RS6000 lockup over the weekend with error code:888 102 700 0C5. I know what all of these codes mean and we did work through recovery with IBM, but we have been unable to find the root cause of the failure and so we are just holding our breath and hoping it doesnt happen again.

There was nothing of troubleshooting value in the error log and some knucklehead had changed our dump device setup so that we did not get a dump! Where else can I look to investigate the problem, any ideas?

Also, if anyone has any opinions on how a dump device might get changed other than (1) a restore or (2) a doofus with to much system authority, please feel free to weigh in.

-thanks

As far as I remember that error code means "Some software made a boo boo". You can't really do anything but hope it doesn't happen again.
If it's your own software go to the dev. dept. and complain.

hi,
you can check on your system for any core files , at the time of the crash see if a program is leaking
what applications are running on your server ?
what OS version and maintenance level have you got installed?
