I have created mysql dump file to backup my database. Does anyone know how to restore the dump file in case of database crashing? I'm using RedHat 7.2.

I tried to just run the dump file as "./database.dump" but there's always syntax errors on brackets, inverted commas, etc... when they seem correct.

Mysqldump generates all the SQL statements necessary to create and populate a database. As such it cannot be run. Typically, you will use that file as the input to the command mysql.

cat database.dump | mysql <options>
