Hi-
When I start the mysql server it seems to start up and them immediately quit. This is what it says at the prompt:
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql
010830 22:30:33 mysql ended

When I try to run mysql I get ERROR 2002: Can't connect to MYSQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'. I'm pretty sure this is because the server ends immediately after starting (or trying to). This happens if I am nunning as root or as my user account. I checked the files and the directories exist and the socket exists.

I'm running Red Hat 7.1 and using mysql ver 3.2.3.40.
Any help would be much appreciated, I'm out of options.
Thanks,
Jason
