I have been trying to make a apache server that runs php and use mySQL. Well i got php running but i have been having problems with mysql. At first it worked with the version on the cd my php & mySQL book came with (version 3_22_34-win) But this moning i turned it on went to prompt and tried running it. It skiped a space like normal then i tried loading the mysql monitor and it couldn't connect. So i uninstalled that and downloaded some of the other versions and now i have 4.0.1 alpha win. So in administrater i try and start it all up and it still doesn't work. Light goes green then back to red. I have windows xp home edition. Does anyone know how to get it working? Thanks for any help.

Do you mean that the MySQL server is'nt running? Do you have a MySQL task running, in UNIX you get a mysqld process running, I imagine in Windows/DOS you get much the same thing.
