Hello,

I am running mySQL 4.0 on a Windows NT 4 (SP6a) system. When I shutdown this system do I have to do any manual operations to mySQL beforehand?

The reason I ask is that with Oracle8 I have to manually shutdown the databases and restart them manually upon system boot. Note: With Windows 2k I was able to automate this.

Thanks for your advice! :)

I have been running MySQL locally for development and have not run accross any issues with shutdown and restart with reguard to MySQL. MySQL runs as a service in the back ground and win32 seems to handle this process smoothly. I am runing MySQL 3.23 though on winXP.

No, you don't have to do anything wiht version 4 either.
Just make sure that the service starts as system service and not depending on a user.

Bye
