Hi,

I use MySQL with approx 600 simultaneous connections. Each uses a table of size 200k approx. The server RAM is 1 GB. At times, the system eats up all the RAM & I see no LINUX swap area being used. I have to restart service after this state is reached. Mine is 24 hours operation & the system meets this state every 2-3 days.

can someone help me to get a solution to this problem.

Thanks you.

Try to use a program which free memory?
When server runs of memory - does it hang up ? Why do you need to restart?
What kind and version of linux do you use ?

Thanks for your help. Yes, the server hangs after eating up all the RAM. The LINUX kernel is 2.6.

What version of mysql do you use? Have you tried to upgrade to newest stable version? Maybe this version of mysql server has a bug ?

Thanks Nero for being so helpful. The version is 4.1. It is the latest stable version.

This seems less like a problem with MySQL and more like a problem with your OS. You might consider taking the question to the "Linux (server)" forum. Many of us are on both forums, but that is a more appropriate place for what I see to be the ensuing discussion and troubleshooting.
