This might be a Linux question, as it has to do with where MySQL stores its database tables when you install it in a Linux based OS (Cent OS).

I want to put the MySQL tables and database information on a separate hard drive. I'm thinking the easiest way to do this is to mount the folder where MySQL stores all its data to on a different hard drive, except I can't seem to find on the MySQL site where exactly it does store things.

I'm thinking it's /usr.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Depends on distro
/usr/local/mysql/data
/usr/local/var
/var/lib/mysql

MySQL stores data where the my.cnf configuration file or distro dependent start up script specifies look for datadir=
So if you have a datadir entry in your my.cnf it should tell you where your distro currently stores the data. Use this to specify an alternative data directory
