mySQL Set up

Hello all, I've inherited an mysql system and I need some bullet point to check on the configuration.

Bear in mind I'm fluent in Oracle and SQL Server on *nix and windows so I understand a great deal how systems operate, I just need to know what cron jobs, or whatever settings to be looking for until I get up to snuff.

MySQL is fairly self-maintaining and doesn't usually need much in the way of cron jobs or custom configuration. What particular aspects of it are you concerned about?
