Hello,

I'm new to mysql. After executing a fairly simple select statement, the output appears in the dos window in a 'word wrap' format which makes it difficult to read especially when there are many columns and many rows. I can output the data to a file which is fine but that's an extra step to then specify the file and then open it.

Is there any way to modify the dos screen output( other than the 'display vertical' option) to a more readable format.

Thank you.

Bonzep

You can have results presented in vertical format (one field per line) by using the -E switch.

As Johnwm pointed out, there are also graphical front-ends for MySQL. MySQL Query Browser can be downloaded free of charge from the MySQL site.

if we are all mentioning our favourite front end apps, i want to put in a word for HeidiSQL

Well I'll add my front-end of choice: SQLyog.

Very close to what MYSLQCC used to be like before they discontinued it.
