MySQL Problems

cannot Connect to MySQL server on Localhost 10061 , IVe never been able to get MySQL to run At all because of this
what Can i do to rectify this situation,
how are you supposed to set up your tables and fields if u cant connect to the darn thing.. can someone pleaes explain Step by step What am i to do >

Did you try to administrate Ur mysql via CLI?
which is the configured port for your mysql?

Is 10061 the port you're trying to connect to? That's odd, because the standard MySQL port is 3306.

I have had the same issue when working with the GUI's can not make a connection. I have been building the data base manually from the prompt but I will be needing to connect soon. Tell us please how to set up a connection user name and password. I know it is simple but there has not been a simple document to find it in.
