I'm not sure if this is the place to post this but I'm in desperate need for an answer. I currently run a server (unix) Red Hat 7 with mysql and within the past month I've been having some problems with mysql hanging up. Sometimes I have to restart the server 3 times in one day because I get from 1-3 (average) of PIDs (mysql) hung up. I try to kill them and it doesn't work.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas why this is happening? Any help would be wonderful.

Thank you in advance.

For the lack of a better answer, it sounds like runaway child processes. You might have to upgrade it with a newer rpm version from Just download it and type rpm -Uvh *.rpm from the directory it's in and that will install it. If you have a lot of databases, you may want to back them up so you can reuse them after the new install.
