Just wondering if anyone has had any experience running a MySQL application in a Citrix environment - I'm in the process of developing an application with MySQL as the backend and one of my potential customers has a Citrix setup and is looking for reassurance that the application will run OK.

Are they compatible or are we heading for problems?

Thanks in anticipation. Doug.

I wouldn't recommend running any back-end database "ON" the MetaFrame server, as this will steal precious resources from user's sessions. If it's running on another machine than the front end application is what needs to work nicely in a multi-user environment.

Hi,

You should find that if you write your application to some of the Citrix standards, Patricks site has very good references for these standards, then you should have no issues with your application running under Citrix.

As with Patricks comments, your not runn MySQL under Citrix but on a seperate Server?

Let us know how you get on as I'm interested in programming in VB.NET and MySQL and doing some Thin Client stuff!

Cheers,
Carl.

Thanks Patrick, Carl - the app I'm developing is in VB6 so, if you're interested I'll log the progress here.

Unfortunately the site using Citrix is in a different state (of Australia) so I'll be relying on the good communication skills of their IT person to try to work through any problems along the way.

Regards, Doug.
