MySql instance config vizard intallation current password

Hi all,
I am trying to install mySql on windows vista. I installed mySql from

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html.

It runs okay.

Next I tried to run "MySql instance config vizard" , it asks me to give "current password", even if I am trying to run first time after uninstallation. I do not know what to enter in “current password” field.
I gave some standard password like “root” etc, it is showing me an error - "could not start service Mysql".

I tried to run this intallation 8-9 times.
I tried it by uninstalling mySql from control panel, from registry(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE , and HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE) Then I restarted machine,too.

In short, during "MySql instance config vizard" installation, instead of asking new password, it is aking me current as well as new password. I do not how to proceed.

Any suggetions. Thank in advance!

If the server programs exist, fire up the server (mysqld.exe) without privilege checking first. See MySQL's fine documentation about how to do this:
