MySQL installed but unhooked (newbie) 2

I am new to MySQL. I have it installed, but in dummie terms, how do I install it? I have a chat program that uses MySQL and it cant find it or somthing, here is ther error I get:

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in ./chat/lib/database/mysql.lib.php3 on line 26
Database error: Link_ID == false, connect failed
MySQL error: 0 ()
Session halted.

what u need, and i'm only quessing, is to create user for you chat program and give him apropriate rights, than create the chat database and then it should be working - look in the readme or install file shipped with the chat program, or in the mysql.lib.php3 file, what username, password and database name is the program using

I will give that a shot, thanx...oh btw, how do I create a user? hehe.. If it helps, I do have access 97.

for user creation use the GRANT command (

or insert the userinfo directly into the mysql/user table
