mysql installation pbs on mandrake 8.2

When i try to configure (./configure) mysql.3.23-beta on mandrake 8.2, all thing seem to be right but at the end i get the following message:
configure error : no acceptable cc found in $PATH

note that it doesn't find gcc and cc
i realised it when i saw the following message during confiuration:
checking gcc no
checkin cc no
