mysql seems to be hanging on my linux server. it takes a good 5+ minutes to bring up any jsp page that makes a localhost connection to the db. restarting, stopping, starting, nothing seems to fix this problem. it's running at it's normal amount of memory used. anybody have any idea what could be going on?

can you make a localhost connection via the mysql command line utility?

Then I think it's probably a problem with your java connector (or maybe DNS, *maybe*) and not a problem with mysql.
