MySQL get Now Function

I am trying to use the DATETIME optin when building a table but need it to get the NOW option as the data. I have tried many ways but cant get it to come back with any thing else than 0000-00-00 00:00:00

Can you tell me what the settings are to get the current date and time in any format using DATETIME

unfortunately, you cannot set a function value in the DEFAULT clause (

however, you can set the current date and time when doing an INSERT, e.g.

insert
into yourtable
( column1, column2, datecolumn )
values
( 'foo', 'bar', now() )
