How could I get a copy of MySql to learn how to use it? Do MySql already contains stored procedures and triggers? How do it compares with SQL Server? Could I access it from products such as VB or Access as front ends?

Thank you

Version 5.0 is the one with stored procedures, but it is still in Beta. You can access Mysql in VB, but Access is actually a DB of its own, not a frontend. You can actually access Mysql in a multitude of ways, including from Perl, PHP, Java, Crystal Reports, etc. How does it compare to SQL Server? Well, its free, it can reside on Windows OR Linux, and there is not SQL slammer for it. It's also open source and GPLed, and the commercial license is a fraction of SQL Server cost.

It might work as well as MS SQL for your app; try it and see. MySQL is not yet as robust as SQL Server, but they're working on it.

There's an ODBC driver for it, so that should solve most connection issues. There are some quirks with updating fields via Access, but I've done little with it that way.
