Im running apache server and my sql and my machine locally. However, when I connect my machine to the internet, apache still serves the pages, but mysql no longer handles requests. As soon as I disconnect mysql works again. Im not sure whats going on here, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your help

I forgot to mention Im running php too, which is still running fine, but its still just the database connections are not working. I am new to all this, so would appreciate any help you can give. Im not even sure if its a apache, php or mysql setting thats causing the problem.

It would be great if you have any ideas, thanks.

Sounds like a DNS issue, how are you calling your database with localhost or your hostname ?

Maybe your web application is trying to do a dns (or reverse dns) lookup for your host when you are connected or maybe even you are getting a DHCP (dynamic IP) assigned and the application is confused ?

Thats some thoughts ...

I'd suggest check all settings/configuration and watch your logs for clues to the error.

Good Luck
Laurie.
