Hi,

Sorry but I'm brand new to mysql.
Can you download a version that will run on mac os (not osx)
from anywhere. I have bought a mysql/php book which states that it will run on mac os.

Any help much appreciated.

MySQL is known to or can be made to run on a large number of operating systems. Binaries, however, are by necessity provided only for a limited set of platforms.

I'm sure MySQL will run on pre-OSX Macs. You just may have to download the source and compile it yourself.

At this point, I will step out of the thread -- I know very little about the requirements for compiling code on older Macs.
