myODBC v3.51 not able to retreive empty field

Is this true? When I try to pull up an empty field through my ASP pages it throws an ODBC OLE error ... but if I revert back to v2.5 of the driver everything works properly. Is there a work around for this? I have several databases that I was hoping to use the updated driver for (never could get version v2.5 to work with count(*) queries) ... but I have alot of legacy data and would like to keep all my drivers at the same level. I have some that are 2.5 and some that are 3.51.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't know about empty fields but the problem with count is usually solved by adding

option=16384

to your connectionstring.
