I'm using MyODBC to connect access with mysql. I've got php making changes to some records in a table.. as soon as they edit a record, access can't modify them. I'm closing the connections and everything I know how to do in php.. is there something I'm missing? I can't get it to release the locks..

Aha.. after many long hours of digging I found the solution. MyODBC can act funny like this, you can get around this problem by adding a timestamp column to each table you edit from mysql. Timestamps are updated automatically from mysql when any kind of update is fired on that record. I guess this triggers a lock release of some kind too.

Also, make sure you're using the lates service packs for MS Office.
