I'm wanting to creat a macro in Myextra! that once done will go into a word document. I'm not really computer savy, but any info would help

Thanks

Hi,

Why are you writing it in Extra?

Exactly what are you trying to do with Extra and Word?

I'm trying to take certain information on customers in the system such as name, address, etc and have the macro copy and paste it in a word document that will be prefilled in...I hope that makes sense..I ask this because at my previous job we had one like it and now one where I work now seems to know what the heck I'm talking about...maybe you dont either!

"...customers in the system ..."

solar system??? Outlook??? WHAT???

Hey, no one can see what's in your head.

Maybe that's why, "...and now one where I work now seems to know what the heck I'm talking about...maybe you dont either"

Please explain with clarity, conciseness and completness what you are trying to do.

I don't know much (anything, really) about MyExtra! but I gather it's used for terminal emulation. So I'm guessing you have some users, sitting at a PC, logged in through MyExtra! to some other platform. Then you're looking for a macro that asks them for information and saves it to a document on the PC that is emulating the terminal. Is that about it? Does MyExtra! have a macro recorder? Does it have a VBA editor?

Yes that is absolutley correct and yes it does have a recoder and vba editor!!!

As a starting point, turn on the recorder and go through some of the key steps: open the Word document, add the data (leave of the user dialogs for now; you can insert inputbox statements to get the data later), save the document, close Word. Then see what the recorder gave you and we can go on from there.

Kjones37,
You might try looking through both these forums, they have the same name but are in two different areas. I've never used MyExtra but I believe the macro functionality is similar across all the AttachMate products.

Hope this helps,
