Every so often, maybe once a week, the MySQL server on my test machine (running Windows NT) fails to start, and when I check what's up, I find that the file c:\my.cnf has been renamed to my_cnf.bak, but its contents have not changed. When I rename it back again, I can start the server.
Now, I am the only user of that non-networked machine, I have never touched my.cnf since I finished installing MySQL, and there is no other program I can think of which would do such a thing. It has never happened on my production server, which also runs Windows NT, and has the same MySQL configuration.
Does anybody have any idea what could be happening here?
Thanks.
