My XP external hard drive won't work after using it on a Mac OS

I just got a seagate 160 GB, after putting all my music and movie files onto it (from XP), i decided to see if i could share a movie file with a friend who had a Mac Powerbook, when i put it into his computer he pulled out the usb cord before the file was done transferring, Now my seagate wont work with the Mac or my PC, it asks me to reformat it, but i dont want to lose all my files, any suggestions for how to save my files?
