Hi, I've been working with computers for awhile now and this really puzzles me. I just got a N6800 Monday: and when I went to insert it into my EMachines Model: T3256 the pins wouldn't line up by close to 1/12 of an inch... I'm upgrading from a Radeon 9200, this is AGP I'm talking about too. I'm normally alright with PC's and the way they are put together, but this reallly puzzles me. If anyone could tell me if this card is compatible with this model please let me know, I've searched for it and couldn't find anything. Thank you for any replies.

I'm terribly sorry, what I should of said is when I go to insert it into the AGP slot on my computer, the cards golden pins are just slightly (as I said 1/12 of an inch) to the right. Sorry for the mix-up.

Other than the difference between AGP versions, which is a major difference and immediately obvious, there shouldn't be anything that leads to 1/12 inch offset other than the M/B location, sloppy card design, or case design.

Some cases have an adjustable I/O slot plate bracket that allows you to shift the relative position between the slots and the board. And sometimes you can get enough by shifting the M/B.

Ok, well I have moved my M/B slightly to the right, and the 6800 popped in nicley, but when I turned on the computer... it just started making a long BEEP noise non-stop! I'm really kinda freaking out. Please reply...

And if you restore it to the previous ?

Tail of the AGP card seated? They have a history of not seating well and an even worse history of heat cycle disengagement.

It may also be a result of moving the board. The standoffs under the board can short traces.

Well, I took the video card back out, so now it's using the onboard video card and everythings fine. If you can think of anything else, thanks.

Indeed, the power supply! emachines generally have a very week power supply and when they blow (and they blow often) they are know to damage the motherboard and hard drive.

Get a better PSU, name brand, 400watt plus recommended.
Don't forget the required "seperate" power connector for the graphics if required.
