Thanks to all who made suggestions re my USB not working. I have solved the problem and thought I would pass it along. I had to uninstall my USB from the device manager list. Then I rebooted my computer and XP re-installed it. That seemed to do the trick and my printer and camera now work fine. Also, there may have been a problem with my McAfee VS and firewall causing an error but I cannot confirm that. Just to be sure, I disabled both. Please note that my device manager showed no conflicts or problems with my USB so there were no indications it wasn't working right. This was a sneaky problem that had no clues.
