My turn for a Site Review

Hmm.

I know it's going to validate so I won't even check it ;-)
Code wise it's rock solid.

I'm not sure it inspires me though. I mean, it's neat and tidy and does the job but it's not stirring my loins so to speak.
It kind of depends on your target market and your competition I suppose.

One thing I would say is that I think the text is a little large. Reducing it slightly makes it more comfortable for me.

The lilac background colour is a little intense too, a bit "RGB" ad I say. It has a vibrancy that you get from on screen colours. Perhaps tone it down a notch?

I am being picky, there's nothing wrong with the site as such but I felt I needed to find something ;-)

I like the "next availability" thing. That's a nice idea.

and who is that handsome chap on the front page ;-)

I'd tend to agree with Foamcow as the site is a little bland and yet overpoweringly purple. I don't think that color works for what you are trying to advertize.

Think of it this way: Your site should represent the pinnacle of what you can do. It should offer the client a glimps at some of the assets you bring to the table. My site is all about design that off beat and non standard. Yours should be minimalist and strong so that the client can see that your design is not only worth their consideration but their confidence.

Hi Chris,

1) I agree with the above comments about the text size etc. This is especially clear when you specify the next available date, this date really overpowers the rest of the page.

2) Personal preference here, but I always try to click the logo to return to the home page of a site.

3) The "Search" link seems a little confusing on first glance because there is a search box below it. It would make more sense as "Advanced Search" or something like that. You could even consider removing this link and offering advanced search when they are shown the results from a basic search.

4) Being petty here, but the title "Extra Connections Ltd: Web Development" The bold part would be better with a space, it currently blends in and looks like a single sentance rather than 2 different sections of a title.

5) The contact page would look better with physical contact details on it in addition to the form. This gives more trust to the visitor that you are not hiding behind the web page. You already have the phone number in the CV, so it would make sense to have it on the contact page as well.

Hope this helps

I don't qualify to pass remark really..... :)
But in contrast to other remarks, I like the text size - there is often a tendency to make it too small, and I for one don't sit 3 inches from the screen! Keep it as it is, I say.

Also nice to see you've retained the standard link colours, and resisted the temptation to demonstrate that you can change them!

But....
Tut, tut.. No meaningful alt information attached to your mugshot - would be another chance (if pretty small) to incorporate "Chris Hunt of Extra Connections LTD" on your page.

I also like the colour scheme, although the horizontal stripes within the purple are a bit offputting. Maybe a watermark effect would be better, although at the cost of some bandwidth.

Regards, Andy.
