I have an IP Office 500 v2 rls 8.1 69. I have 3 tcm 8s attached to it with 20 T7316 phones attached. I have put every phone in a user group that has a specific button programming template on it. However whenever the system reboots, the buttons go to default with DND and all that crap. How do I get my button mapping to stick?

I have 8 line appearances on these phones which i know is a "no no" but every phone has to ring here and they are too use to using line appearances

also i know about the *DCP/ Dial/ 84000004,1,1,0/0 and it doesnt work

I am setting up a system (500V2 8.1.63) now with 8 T7316E sets and this button defaulting issue is driving me crazy. I can't find any information other than the *DCP short code which was there by default and does nothing whether it's there or not. Rebooting the system seems to bring my button programming back temporarily. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I found out what my problem was

when you initially plug the phones into a system, they default. what my issue was is that I had my config openned to "pre plugged in phones". I found that the phones would truly only change when i rebooted the system. BUT I never reopenned a config, I just had my "pre plugged" config open on my screen, so whenever i saved my ongoing programming changes, it would save over the new config that was created internally when it saw the phones. The system inputs that shortcode when you boot the system up with the phones plugged in, so if you keep over writing that config with a "pre plugged in" config, your phones will keep defaulting when you save.

Solution:

plug all the phones in and then pull the config from the system. make sure that the short code is in each users short code setting, then make your button programming changes. merge the settings, check the phones. then do a system reboot so that the system reboots with the short code in place and the new buttons. Make sure you don't do a save/ immediate. Specifically do a merge and then file/advanced/ reboot. then close your config and pull a fresh config after the reboot.
