I have the physical media of Windows 2008 x64 Enterprise (non-R2) and wanting to replace the the set of hard drive. In case of a problem, I backed-up the OS to a USB device using Acronis trial, Can I use the Enterprise x64 (non-R2) install it, and use the recovery from acronis TIB file to go back to Win2008 R2 Enterprise? Or can I just do "the" in-place UPGRADE TO recover (upgrade using the non-R2 media) and the OS will automatically go back to the Enterprise Win2008-R2?
My other option is to install the non-R2 Ent and use the "bare metal" backup from "Windows Backup" from a \\windows\share ?
What will you guys do in this situation?
I backed-up both the system reserved and the entire C using Windows Backup (Windows Share) and Acronis 11 for server (via USB). I also will do the cloning using Ghost32 in WinPE version 3 and the Vista driver injected.
The server is a Dell with PERC-6/i.
I am familiar with the DISKPART to put the "new" "volume" system reserve to active
Thanks,
Jose
