Im having trouble detecting my other Hard Drive in my comp. I had originally had an 8 gig as my primary and a 60 as my primary slave. A couple days ago I had to format my 8 gig drive so I put some files and folders on my 60 hoping it wouldnt be a problem to get them back. I Formatted it but now its only saying the drive is only 7.82 MB, thats not right.

Its reading the drive now but like I said its only showing 8 MB of available space. I went into FDISk and checked the drive and here is what it says. Looks like there is 3 partitions.

Partition 1 has no status, it says it is NON-DOS and is 43959 mbytes and uses 75%.

Partition 2 has a status of "A", it says its non-dos and is 14653 mbytes and uses 25%.

Partition 3 has non status, is the Primary Dos with 8 mybtyes and a system of FAT12.

Im sure the first two partitions are the space used and not used.

What should I do next??

FAT12 ??

The drive needs to be formatted using FAT32 as the file system

may have been used with a drive overlay to get around the large drive issues. And if the overlay isn't on the boot device you won't be able to access it.
I would suspect that partition 2 has the data since it is active. Ed Fair

OK so Ill have to format it with the FAT32? Does that mean Im going to lose all the data that was previously on my HD? Sorry Im a little slow but could someone please tell me how I go about doing this???

Try to find out what was used on the drive that allowed the setup you have. Then duplicate the install steps except fdisk and format. Should make it available again.
Fdisk and format will wipe out everything you have tried to save.
Hard drive mfgs license "disk manager" from ontrack to install a modification to the boot to allow large drives to be used. And when the boot floppy or main hard disk are reformatted the drive overlay needs to be reinstalled to allow access to the large drive. Ed Fair

How do I go about installing the drive overlay. The problem is I never installed this HD myself I had to get someone else to do it. I believe he had to flash the BIOS or something in order to install it.

Formatting is my last option but Ill do it in order to get access back. Deleting the Primary DOS partition wont do anything will it? Is there any information I can give you that will help you out more??

Just so I make sure that everyone knows, Im trying to get the 60 GB back online.

Fdisk will have a menu which allows you to choose the second hard drive. And if you can delete the partitions any data on them will go away.
Did you get any floppy or cd with the hard drive? If disk manager came with it you should have one of them. Ed Fair
