My OSX 10.3.5 Server has gone a little weird. I am problems with my POP 3 server and logins. Anyway after weeks of investigations and forum posts I have narrowed it down to a weird thing. The actual POP 3 mail client in OSX 10.3.5 Server is Cyrus. Now when I go into server admin and uncheck the IMAP and POP mail clients in the Mail settings, then stop and restart the mail service you would expect that there would be no POP mail client running. Wrong, I can still telnet into the mail client but it is NOT rpt NOT cyrus. I have also found that after I built a fresh OSX 10.3.5 server to do some investigative work on and telneted into port 110 it came up with the cyrus POP client but when I telnet into my OSX server it only comes up with POP3 OK. Does anyone know how do I get Cyrus to start and this other client to stop. I have not put any other client on the machine. Below is a copy of the telnet commands. You can see on the server with the problem with an IP of 10.5.6.1 that it is not the cyrus POP mail client that is being telneted into, but on the fresh install server of 10.15.7.210 that it is correct:
