I recently reinstalled win98 on my c: drive 1.3 g. I was trying to install it on the larger d: 13g, but it kept saying i did not have enough free space, even though i had over 2.5g according to windows explorer. I then backed everything up and tried to del everything off the d: and reformat it. I now have the error of format does not support drive. Can anyone help me?

Recreate the partition on it using all available space. Then do your format (using FAT32)

How were the partitions set up in the first place? (eg, have you used a tool like Partition Magic, or was it just fdisk/format).

re "format does not support drive", go to website for your particular drive and d\load free program that will fdisk and format your drive for you. I have done this many times because of the same type prob, especially when I get the "cannot format a network drive" error. Whatever the error you get, just use the proper fisk and format supplied by the hard drive maker, free, and you are back in business!

best of luck to you.

THANKS GUYS

I PARTIONED THE DRIVE, THEN IT ALLOWED ME TO FORMAT IT.
