Say I have a preloader, which a few of you have helped me get the right scripting plugged in, but now that I have it up and running I have one little prob. Once someone goes to my site, the second time around it does not last but for a second or so. How can I get it to play to the end of the preloader then jump to the next scene? Here it is...

on the last frame of your preloader, put that script in...only the last frame...then, it should play, then on the last frame, it should check to see if it's loaded...if not, it goes and plays again...if so, it goes to the site...

That way it plays the animation and doesn't even worry about checking it until the last frame. When life gives you lemons...throw them back and get the oranges you ordered! :-Q

Natedeia,

This is occuring because of caching. When the movie has downloaded once, it's in your computer's cache, and unless the user clears his cache, he will not see your animated intro until the cached file expires.

To prevent this, go here and read up on How to prevent caching of swf files:

Well, I''m on a DSL connection, it only lasts a second or so because its already loaded by like the 2nd frame of his animation...so I think having it check at the end of the animation would be a better solution...correct me if I'm wrong...

plus it would look better if it went through the animation all the way anyways, instead of jumping to another. ----------------------------------------
Insert attention grabbing signature, which would otherwise provoke a positive emotion here.

Well Luke, looking at it that way, and since this thing loads up pretty fast even on a dial-up connection, my suggestion would be to only have the loading text on the preloader, and put that intro animation as the first scene.
Then you would allways see it, no matter what.

That's also true...I didn't get to even see a part of the animation unfortunately, only saw something which I am guessing to be spinning into the view of the user (me)...and then it jumped to the page.

I wouldn't mind seeing "Loading" for a second or two, then seeing that animation... ----------------------------------------

oldnewbie is right..once the preloader is cached to the users computer thats it, it probably won't be seen again..natedeia if you want that to work right do as old said..build a simple loading text pre-loader and run your intro in scene 1..and the rest of the site throughout the rest of the scenes..

a preloader should be just that a pre-loader!!you shouldn't have a nice flashing intro as the preloader..it should be played after the pre-loading is done!!

just my opinion..

All great advise, i only did it that way is because i hate going to a site and seeing just loading.....
I was aware of the caching, but would still just like to see just the intro, and making it the first part of the the second scene is not a bad idea. Does the motorcycle sound, sound like crap?

I am going to read over these replys and get on it! Thanks everyone!

like they said nat, i am on a cable modem and i seen only a second of it if that..so i can't really tell you about the sound or not..

sorry..
