My Modem Dials, but Does Not Connect

Hi,

Can someone help me with a problem I have regarding my Rockwell modem? What is happening is that my laptop will dial the number while the dial tone is up, but for some strange reason the modem is not recognizing it and the dial tone is still up until the operator comes on.

I am using Windows 98 and the Rockwell 56K Speakerphone modem.

I would first check and ensure that I had the tone set for tone versus pulse

check the language your modem is set to. dial tones change in different countries!

Try putting a comma before the number to be dialed. If that doesn't work, try putting one after the number. Usually works, but good luck!! s-)
