I have a mobile p4 running at 1.6 ghz but lately when i right click on my computer it says it is running at 894 and that is when i have nothing running or anything.. i have also tried running programs and stuff to see if it changes and it doesnt.. it used to say 1.6 all the time.. any ideas on what i can change to get the speed back?

Check the documentation for your MB. There might be a jumper on the board, but likely it's a setting in the BIOS.

yeah nothing is taking up really anything.. it is probobly the bios.. anything i should check? i am not real good with all the bios and registry stuff..

Do you have some sort of "power saving" mode activated? My laptop has an "Intel Speedstep" icon that loads in the task bar by the clock...

The answer is likely in your BIOS. It may be at the default settings.

You may need to fiddle with these settings, but I wouldn't suggest it unless you are intimately familiar with your CPU's specs. If that's the case, then adjust the settings a little bit at a time; and keep checking the CPU speed as reported by your Windows "My Computer" properties.

Complacency is the rigor mortis of the soul.

yeah mine has speedstep but i have never seen the icon for it. can someone help me with those bios settings though? i am really anxious to get this fixed.
