My manager needs to know manager things like "how many gigs of information were backed up last night?"

what is the compressed and uncompressed amount backed up last night.

I would like to use mminfo and other commands I can get with 7.1. We also run hp openview.

Clients backed up. tapes used and that kind of stuff is also needed.

I think the mminfo commands may be what I need.

You are right. Just query for all the save sets since "10 hours ago".

compressed then uncompressed.

In the man page for mminfo they do not specify compressed or uncompressed.

Also can you tell me a little about the annotation feature of mminfo ? Can I go into all the "permanant" backups and make a notation "never reuse tape" ?

Have a look at "mminfo -aX" and see if that could be usable for your report.
