Hi

I had windows2000 installed until i contracted a virus and chose to format the hard drive which is 27Gb. The only way i could format was to install windows98 over the top and format in the process.
When i had finished i found that my hard drive had shrunk to only 2Gb - i think this might be something to do with partitioning? I have now reinstalled windows2000 but the hard drive is still only 2 gb's! how can i get my full drive back?!?! do i need to run something called FDISK? please help me!
Many Thanks
N.Sampson

Did you format in Fat16? If so, reformat in either Fat32 or NTFS. You might also try "writing zeros" or low level formatting.

during fdisk or format (I can't remember where it asks you... It will ask if you want to enable support for large drives (or something like that). Choose yes. We are always looking for new members at our computer forums: Please come join our community too.

Did you remove virus? If you use disk partitioning/format tools available with win2k install you should be ok, IF you've remove viruses completely. You don't need fdisk/win98 - don't really understand why you used them.

Seems to me (to be sure) fdisk, repartitian and do a low level format then reinstall windows. Martin Just trying to help, sometimes falling short, I am only human after all.
