Finished reading the sybex 640-801 book at the weekend. pass all the tests in the test engine software that come with the book 100% each time.

Printed off the latest testking and read it all. couldn't believe it - about 30% of the questions I had no idea of the answers!

gotta now re-read the topics in the book which I found difficult on testking.

and I thought I was about ready....

markjrees,
When I study for a Cisco Exam I never use just one source.

I use Cisco Press books and CBT Nuggets first and finish my study with the Sybex books and any flash cards, test questions etc.

Along with the books I do a ton of labs on "real" Cisco routers and switches as well as different router sims.

Here is a link to a "free" CCNA Lab manual (350 pages) PDF download -

Learning by Doing: Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) Lab Manual Version 4 Volume #1 by Matthew Basham

This is a GREAT book and the price (free) is right - Matt was one of my "train the trainer" instructors.

This might seem like a lot but I am not just looking to pass an exam - I want to be able to work with the certification and move to the next level.

Trust me - DO NOT move to CCNP or CCSP until you have a very strong understanding at the CCNA level.

I have passed both CCNA exams (scoring above 950 on both)- the 607 (old) and the 801 (new) as well as CCDA and the Advanced Routing (CCNP) test.

I hope
