I have a compaq laptop usb1.0 compliant. I have for it a PCMCIA usb2 compliant which seems to work ok cause i use an external cdrw for it.
I just bought an external hard drive enclosure + 3.5" hard drive in order to increase the GB of my laptop. This enclosure is a usb2.0 compliant.
when I connect this enclosure to the usb1 everything works fine but very slow, avcourse.
when i connect it to USB2 in the PCMCIA it doesn't work at all! the label is not shown (just a letter, like 'E:') and when I can't move items to it. it pops up an error message. The system tray icon of the usb2 DOES find the enclosure, but as I said, in My Computer it doesn't work!
In Disk Management under Computer Management it looks like it isn't connected at all, while on the Device Manager it exists!!!
It all happens in USB2...
Any ideas, someone??? I'm so dipperesed... I paid so much money for this shit

Try getting some updated USB 2 drivers for your PCMCIA USB 2 card. This may help. Also have a look at the manufacturers websites (Card & Enclosure) to see if they have any incompatable devices listed for your setup.
