I do not receive any error messages but when I turn the computer on it loads all of the system information and then just goes to a black screen with a cursor flashing in the upper left corner before it even gets to the Windows splash screen. I just had the computer on a couple of days ago and it was fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First question: Have you installed anything new on the system (hardware or software)?

Second Question: Have you changed anything in the operating system or the BIOS settings?

Third Question: Did it shut down properly before this problem occurred?

Fourth Question: Was the system overly hot before this problem happened?

I did not add anything new or change anything in the operating system or BIOS settings. Yes it was shudown properly and I did not notice it being overly hot before this problem occured.

Have you got the Windows CD? If this is Windows XP, try booting from the CD (may need to change BIOS Settings for "First Boot Device"), and choosing the repair option.

If it's 98/98 SE/2000/ME, then try to install windows into the same directory as before (likely C:\Windows), which will effectivey overwirte the previous installation.

All of your applications will need to be reinstalled, but your data will be safe.
