i recently downloaded a program, and it was all good until it required me to reboot my computer. Im not sure if it was a huge virus, or something....but its caused my computer to freeze/hang once my desktop loads.

i have a ati graphics card, and this screen pops up with some information about the card, and some trouble shooting help. Now, i can access folders and so on until this window pops up, but the window pops up at the longest of 5 seconds.

So, i cannot access my desktop until i get this fixed...ive tried the BIOS but of what i know of BIOS, i cannot delete/remove that window from popping up....

PLEASE HELP! i need assistance!

Correction, i managed to click the "do not show up at next start up button" and it still freezes. I need to fix this, i now presume it can be accomplished through the BIOS, Can someone walk me through fixing my BIOS so i can start my computer up without it freezing?

I will be in complete debt to whoever helps me. And as "reward" id be happy to make a signature for a forum for them, or any other graphic they desire.

Yes...its a bad reward...but its all i can offer for the restoration of my computer!

Are you using any anti-virus and a good anti-spyware program?

Start your computer in safe mode (I assume you know how to do this -- F8 at startup)

check the Start -->Programs -->Startup folder for weird new entries

If you're brave (and don't want to use msconfig[start-->run-->msconfig]):

Open Regedit (be careful, you should have done a backup first) (start -->run -->regedit)

Navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run

Look in there for things you might be able to disable that could be causing your problem. It might take some time, but it is best to disable things one by one and reboot. If it didn't fix the problem, re-enable it and then try another one.

What was the program you downloaded?

In order to fix your BIOS, press whatever key you need to to get into the system bios (usually the del key, the F2 key or maybe even the escape key). Look for a seeting to reload the factory defaults. This shuld restore the settings and you can then tweak the bios settings as you want.

IF you don't have a virus checker, download a free one (like AVG from grissoft, I thnk it is). Install it and do a complete system check. Are other programs or hardware affected? If not, UNINSTALL the last program you downloaded. Go into the system registry and do a search for the program name and delete any entries you find. Make sure it is COMPLETELY removed form the registry. Reboot and see what happens.
