My client requires a search facility for their web site. It doesn't have to be very exotic, but it must index the site on a regular basis and be relatively fast.

I am currenlty downloading webinator from Thunderstone (19MB over 56K ouch!!) which I know will suit my needs, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any other, more lightweight, site indexers?

Thanks cian, that looks excellent and more lightweight than webinator, however, If my host doesn't allow CGI then I'm still in a fix. (webinator is CGI based too)

Does anyone know of any which don't use CGI?

I know of a javascript one but it is an UNBELIEBAVLE task to maintain if your pages will change more than once per year! Ok, slight exaggeration but if there will be regular changes then you will need a server side script.

FDSE creates index files and frankly I doubt there are many better SE's out there.

There's many available in PHP, a qick google search will find you lots. Unless your host is a free one they more than likely will allow PHP. Everybody does.

Thanks again cian, I used the Simple SE tutorial and built my own one in ASP/Access. Splendid. ;-)
